In the heart of Milford, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, there’s a place where dreams take shape and champions are made. It’s not just any gym; it’s the brainchild of Constantin Bejenaru, the Moldovan-born former WBC champion whose passion for boxing transcends the ring.

Opening this gym wasn’t just about training the next generation of champions, Constantin says, „It’s about instilling values of discipline, perseverance, and respect”. From aspiring amateurs to seasoned pros, Constantin’s gym welcomes all who share his passion for the sweet science, offering a haven where they can hone their skills and chase their dreams.

The opening of the gym has generated excitement within the local community, with many residents eager to learn from the former champion and be part of the vibrant boxing scene. Stepping into Constantin’s gym feels like stepping into a world where anything is possible. The walls are adorned with photographs and memorabilia from his illustrious career, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices and triumphs that have shaped him into the man he is today.

The Grand Opening of Cus Boxing Gym in Milford was an incredible event where his efforts were recognized by Mayor Tony Giannattasio, Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut and several members of the Romanian, Moldovan and boxing community in the area.

„We got to celebrate the remarkable journey of Romanian boxing champion Constantin Bejenaru, who has carved a path of excellence in the world of boxing that has earned him several medals and titles on both national and international platforms”, mentioned Dana Bucin at the opening event.

Bejenaru continued to shine, claiming titles and accolades that solidified his place among the elite in the boxing world. From being crowned the 2011 „Bigger’s Better King” champion to achieving the prestigious titles of WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight Champion and WBC Inter Continental Cruiserweight Champion in 2016, Bejenaru’s career is a testament to his unparalleled skill and unwavering passion for the sport, added Bucin.

For Constantin, boxing is more than just a sport; it’s a way of life. Born and raised in Moldova, he discovered his love for boxing at a young age, finding solace and purpose in the discipline and dedication it required. From the streets of his hometown to the glitz and glamor of the professional circuit, Constantin’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Bejenaru was trained under the guidance of Kevin Rooney, a renowned boxer and boxing trainer known for managing the legendary Mike Tyson. Now, alongside his wife Aurelia Aura who co-manages the gym, embarks on a new chapter as he opens Cus Boxing Gym with a vision to nurture and develop future boxing champions. She thinks her husband can groom great fighters, saying that they could produce an Olympic-quality boxer for the 2032 games.

But even as he reached the pinnacle of success, winning the WBC cruiserweight title in 2019, Constantin never forgot where he came from. With a heart as big as his punches, he vowed to give back to the sport that had given him so much. And so, he set his sights on Milford, a community in need of inspiration and opportunity.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Constantin’s gym isn’t the state-of-the-art facilities or the world-class training; it’s the sense of camaraderie and family that permeates every corner. Here, egos are checked at the door, and everyone is treated with the same level of respect and encouragement.

Bejenaru proudly represented Romania as a national team member for a decade, showcasing his skill and dedication as a nine-time country champion in the light heavyweight class. According to the Honorary Consul of Romania in CT, Dana Bucin, his achievements speak volumes, from winning a bronze medal at the European Amateur Boxing Championships in 2006 to clinching a gold medal at the World Combat Games in 2010.

As word of Constantin’s gym spreads, so too does his impact on the community. Through outreach programs and charity events, he strives to uplift those in need, using his platform to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether it’s providing free boxing lessons to at-risk youth or organizing fundraisers for local charities, Constantin is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Constantin Bejenaru’s gym isn’t just a place to train; it’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and the enduring power of the human spirit. And as long as there are dreams to chase and battles to be won, his doors will always be open, welcoming all who dare to step inside and embrace the champion within.
